Hospital Experience

On April 23 2016, I was given the opportunity to volunteer for the Walk With Heart cardiac fundraiser at Rouge Valley Centenary! This two-day cardiac fundraising event is the largest in Canada, accumulating over $100,000 for cardiovascular rehabilitation in the GTA!

Amongst this team of over 20 volunteers, I was assigned to booths in recruiting sponsors, directing and motivating cardiac walkers along their over two kilometer walk!

Whilst fulfilling my responsibilities, I engaged with cardiac team members (from children to the elderly) and ensured their satisfaction through kindness along coordinating volunteers across the walking tracker for sponsors and cardiac team members affected and/or supporting cardiology.

Over the 5-hour event, I helped the Rouge Valley Centenary fund-raise over $3000 through delivering exceptional character that was vital in meeting sponsor demands, delivering walker assistance, and event coordination. Moreover, my assistance was met with gratitude and exceptional responses from the community!

These documentations illustrated my exceptional performance at the Rouge Valley Centenary's Walk With Heart annual event (collectively formatted with the Walk With Heart logo on Sept. 23 2018)

Consequently, my hospital experience with this national fundraiser enabled me to enhance my organization skills as when inside the hospital setting, where I will need to manage my time and resources to perform research and duties requested by my Principal Investigator. In addition, this experience is highly relevant with my communication and external relationship skills to physicians, researchers, patients, and the GTA community where I will be able to not only display my research findings, but more importantly, convince my audience of the implications of my cardiac research as ensured with the Walk With Heart event once again reaches above $125,000 to fundraise in the GTA!
